Job description

About the Team

DoorDash Drive is the B2B delivery platform, powering same‑day and next‑day fulfillment for merchants who need more than the marketplace. The Drive Growth & New Bets team owns four high‑growth lines of business under Drive:

  • Pizza — Reliability, efficiency, and quality programs for Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Papa Johns. Peak pay, flash offers, smart batching, and chatbots.
  • Health — HIPAA-compliant specimen, blood-product, and pharma delivery for partners like Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, AFC Urgent Care, and WellStreet, with active negotiations across major health systems.
  • Tasks (new bet) — A new 0→1 platform for Cx-app courier (peer-to-peer delivery) and Mx task dispatch (inventory restocking, point-to-point logistics).
  • Fleet Management (new bet) — Self-serve dispatch and consumer tracking for merchants operating their own (1P) driver fleets; first builds going live with Pizza Hut and Hungry Howie's.
About the Role

We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead this team. You'll own engineering execution across all four LOBs, partnering with Product, Analytics, BD, and Ops to scale established businesses and incubate new bets through stage‑gated validation. You must be located in the Sunnyvale, CA, San Francisco, CA, or Seattle WA area for this hybrid role.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team (backend, mobile, web) across multiple LOBs
  • Set technical direction and architecture for established platforms (Pizza, Health) and brand-new 0→1 builds (Tasks, Fleet Management)
  • Partner with Product, BD, and Ops on roadmap, GTM, and demand validation; stage-gate new-bet investments based on signal rather than executing a fixed backlog
  • Hire, develop, and retain senior engineers; cultivate a strong ownership culture
  • Drive reliability, HIPAA compliance, on-time delivery, and operational excellence for mission‑critical merchant deliveries
We're excited about you because you have…
  • 2+ years managing full-stack engineering teams of 8+ engineers
  • 8+ years of total industry experience including hands‑on engineering
  • Distributed systems design and platform‑scale execution experience
  • Strong product intuition and comfort partnering on roadmap and strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with ambiguity — half the team's bets are explicitly new businesses we're incubating
  • Experience leading multiple LOBs or platforms in parallel is a strong plus
Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market‑dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

DoorDash also offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, disability and basic life insurance, family‑forming assistance, and a mental health program, among others.

For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g., about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g., about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

Pay range: $193,800 — $285,000 USD.
