Job summary

Lyft in New York, NY is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Core Rider team. You will own foundational systems and rider functionalities, partnering with PMs, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to scale products and infrastructure used by millions of riders daily.

Lead a team to deliver on strategic roadmaps, drive architectural excellence, and nurture team growth in a high-impact environment with strong collaboration across Product, Design, and Analytics.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Engineering/CS or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering with technical leadership.
• 3+ years in people management.
• Experience launching consumer-facing products.
• Experience on growth-oriented teams impacting top-line metrics.
• Experience managing diverse engineering roles (server/mobile).
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative, low-ego mindset and team-first approach.

Responsibilities

• Drive team execution and resolve bottlenecks while making decisive trade-offs.
• Partner with Product, Design, Marketing, Science, and Analytics to define direction.
• Translate business goals into actionable projects; own team roadmap from concept to delivery.
• Contribute to observability, reliability, and on-call practices for operational excellence.
• Ensure architectural quality through reviews and debt management.
• Foster team health by refining processes and supporting career development.
• Build cross-team relationships and share learnings across engineering groups.
• Participate as a strong interviewer and contributor to Lyft’s engineering community.
