Job summary

Cohere is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the APIs and DevEx team, guiding backend and full‑stack engineers to deliver robust inference APIs, SDKs, and a customer‑facing Dashboard. You will mentor engineers, shape API strategy, and collaborate with Modeling groups to drive product quality and scale.

You will work closely with UX and product partners to create a seamless experience while prioritizing mentorship, documentation, and team growth.

In this role, you will manage the team that owns the the company inference APIs and SDKs, as well as the the company Dashboard, where customers can access our models, manage teams, and audit billing. You will collaborate with internal partners to craft a delightful, intuitive, and unified experience across everything the the company APIs and the company Dashboard have to offer. As a hands‑on leader, you will shift seamlessly between roles as mentor, strategist, and technologist to guide the team toward shared success.

As an Engineering Manager of the the company APIs and DevEx team, you will:

• Manage, mentor, and grow a talented and enthusiastic team of backend and full-stack software engineers
• Participate in model releases and develop new API capabilities
• Work closely with Modelling and Model Serving teams
• Collaborate with UX designers to ensure customers have an easy and delightful time managing teams, API keys, billing and configurations.
• Oversee and contribute to open source projects

• You have experience managing engineering teams and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software
• You have experience shipping products with a large number of stakeholders
• You're comfortable with the front and back end of the stack, and have previously worked with Go, Next.js, TypeScript, and React
• You are passionate about recruiting and growing people and teams
• You are passionate about building rapport with your team and you prioritize 1:1s
• You have excellent communication skills and believe that documentation is a great way to get feedback and discuss technical implementations and designs
• You have the ability to take complex needs and goals and develop easy to understand explanations for all audiences
