Addepar is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Advisor Experience team to lead a growing group of engineers working on the Secure Message Center and broader advisor-client workflows within the Addepar platform.

You will partner with product management and design to translate ambitious product vision into shipped software, guide architecture decisions, conduct reviews, and hire and mentor engineers while maintaining high standards and reliability.

The Role

The Advisor Experience team is a new engineering team within Addepar’s Core Product Engineering organization, focused on building the products and experiences that define how financial advisors and their clients interact on the Addepar platform. Initially this role will focus on our new Secure Message Center — a compliant messaging experience built into Addepar’s client portal — but the scope extends well beyond messaging. We’re building the connective tissue between advisors and the investors they serve, creating workflows that make every interaction more informed, more personal, and more seamless.

As the Engineering Manager for this team, you’ll lead a small, growing group of engineers and shape both the technical direction and team culture from the early stages. You’ll partner closely with product management and design to translate an ambitious product vision into shipped software.

What You'll Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack engineers, building a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement from the ground up.
• Partner with product management and design to define roadmaps, prioritize work, and deliver on initiatives that directly shape the advisor-client experience on Addepar's platform.
• Own the team's technical direction — guide architecture decisions, conduct design reviews, and stay close enough to the codebase to provide meaningful feedback in code reviews.
• Drive execution across the team using well-defined goal-setting frameworks, balancing ambitious delivery targets with sustainable engineering practices.
• Recruit and hire engineers as the team grows, setting a high bar for both technical ability and collaborative fit.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to ensure the Advisor Experience products integrate cleanly with Addepar's broader platform — including the client portal, reporting infrastructure, and data layer.
• Champion operational excellence — own the team's approach to testing, deployment, incident response, and technical debt management.

Who You Are

• You have 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a people management or team leadership role.
• You have a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• You have a strong full-stack technical background — you're comfortable reviewing architecture across the stack, from Java or similar backend systems to modern frontend frameworks like React, Ember, or Svelte.
• You're an effective technical leader who doesn't need to write every line of code but stays close enough to the work to guide design decisions, unblock engineers and maintain high standards in code review.
• You have experience building and growing engineering teams — whether that's hiring your first reports, structuring interview loops, or scaling a team through a period of growth.
• You're a clear, direct communicator who can translate between technical details and business outcomes for stakeholders across product, design, and leadership.
• You're familiar with AI-assisted development workflows and see them as a natural part of how modern engineering teams operate.
• Experience with real-time communication systems, messaging infrastructure, or client-facing portal experiences is a strong plus.
• You have a background or strong interest in fintech, wealth management, or financial advisor workflows.

Compensation

Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for this role within the United States.

Compensation for this role includes base salary + bonus + equity + benefits.

Base Salary Range

$170,000 — $265,000 USD
