Job summary

WEISS North America, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager in Willoughby, OH to lead Mechanical, Controls, and Applications Engineering teams. You will mentor engineers, drive cross-functional collaboration, and manage multiple projects from concept through delivery.

A hands-on leader with strong mechanical/electrical background is required. Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, supporting customer needs, and shaping product capabilities during pre-sales engagements.

Qualifications

Job Description

The Engineering Manager will lead and support our Mechanical, Controls, and Applications Engineering teams. This role requires a hands-on, technically skilled leader with a strong mechanical and electrical background, outstanding organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple engineering and pre-sales projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to mentoring engineers, supporting customer needs, and driving cross-functional collaboration across departments.

Pay Range:

$100,000 - $115,000

Job Responsibilities - Engineering Manager

• Lead and coordinate multiple engineering projects, from concept through delivery, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal standards
• Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to engineering team members – mechanical engineers and applications engineers
• Develop custom mechanical design solutions utilizing WEISS standard products and CAD software
• Collaborate with Sales and Product Management to define product capabilities, positioning, and scope during pre-sales engagements
• Work with customers and internal sales teams during pre- and post-sale processes, offering technical support and design guidance
• Prepare proposals and coordinate sales support for value-added mechanical solutions
• Manage project timelines, maintain delivery schedules, and oversee engineering documentation (BOMs, routings, CAD data)
• Ensure communication across departments, customers, and suppliers to maintain project clarity and momentum
• Maintain and improve internal CAD data standards and contribute to product quality and consistency
• Represent WEISS products confidently through demonstrations and hands-on expertise
• Perform additional tasks and cross-functional duties as assigned

Desired Skills & Experience - Engineering Manager

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent professional experience required
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within automation or machinery design
• Prior experience in a leadership, management, or mentorship role within an engineering environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and project management skills
• Proficient in SolidWorks; experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident in customer-facing discussions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Experience in the automotive industry and/or with electrical knowledge is a plus
• Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, “can-do” attitude, and ability to work independently
