Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; technical degree acceptable.
  • Experience as an engineer and supervisor/manager preferred with 5+ years.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and quality standards (IATF/ISO).

Responsibilities

  • Lead cost reduction projects and launch new products.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and hands-on participation to the technical team.
  • Coordinate projects with detailed plans and direct technical activities.
  • Analyze tech needs, resources and market demand to plan feasibility.
  • Plan and direct installation, testing and operation of equipment.
  • Recruit, direct and evaluate staff; oversee staff competence development.
  • Contribute to budget and multi-year capital investment plan.
  • Develop/implement policies and procedures for engineering work.
  • Review reports, approve expenditures, and purchase materials/services.
  • Oversee production methods/standards for manufacturing and changes.

Job Title: MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING MANAGER

Department: EngineeringExempt Position

Report To/Title: Vice President Operations

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead a team of technical professionals to implement cost reduction projects of all kinds and launch new products.
  • Provide management tools, guidance, mentoring, and hands on participation to/with the technical team.
  • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, and technical operation of equipment.
  • Recruit employees; assign, direct and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Contribute thecompany’sannual budget. Own the multi-year capital investment plan.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department.
  • Responsible for administrating functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditure, enforcing rules and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Oversee the creation of production methods and standards as they apply to the manufacture of Covercraft production and assure the utilization, within the spectrum of authority of initiated changes and equipment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLES:
  • Responsible for non-exempt employee performance appraisals.

AUTHORITY:

All personnel are responsible for quality and therefore have the authority to stop production, if necessary to correct quality programs.
SKILLS REQUIRED:

Computer skills – strong Microsoft Office Suite, CAD.

Coding and/or PLC programming a plus.

Communication written and verbal to all levels of employees. Read and write English.

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

5 yearsofexperience as an engineer

5 yearsofexperience as asupervisor/manager preferred.

5 years of experience workingin a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of IATF and ISO quality standards

Four-yeartechnicalcollege degree or equivalent experience. Engineering degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to go out on the plant floor and perform production activities as needed to understand the processes.

Able to sit or stand for extended period of time (may require sitting or standing all day at any given time in any combination.

Able to travel to Covercraft locations, suppliers, and off-site meeting locations as required. Expect 25% or less travel time.
