Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience.

  • Proficient in MS Office and CAD Design.

  • Self-directed in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement processes (5S, Value Stream, Six Sigma, TPM).
  • Solid project management capabilities for multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Lean manufacturing processes to maximize performance, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Assist production department managers to achieve stated objectives.
  • Manage engineering operations, including training, and assigning personnel engaged in continuous improvements.
  • Improve and innovate manufacturing methods, layouts, workplace, and equipment.
  • Collect and maintain technical documentation for machinery and assets.
  • Oversee facility repairs, modifications, and contractor management.
  • Maintain schedules and communicate progress within timeline and budget.
  • Lead layout activities and lean cell optimization with Lean Leader.
  • Assist with planning and cost estimates for capital budgets.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with maintenance labor, parts, and budgets.
  • Provide training and certification support to maintenance personnel.
  • Lead cost improvement initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and influence department staff.
  • Establish and maintain safety standards.

We have an opportunity for an Engineering Manager at our manufacturing plant in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the industrial engineering operations of the facility, utilities, grounds, and plant property. The role leads Engineers, Maintenance, and Contractor Personnel responsible for repair, maintenance, modification and installation of machines, tooling, and equipment. The manager reviews company policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure safety of personnel and security of company assets; ensures consistency and compliance in engineering methods, production systems, standards and plant‑wide continuous improvement activities. The Engineering Manager also ensures effective installation and utilization of plant capital expenditures, works with Corporate Engineering and Plant Maintenance teams, supports safety initiatives and works closely with the EH&S Manager as a technical resource. The manager may also manage assigned core safety programs.

  • Improve and innovate manufacturing methods, layouts, workplace, and equipment.
  • Collect and maintain technical documentation for machinery, company assets and property.
  • Oversight of facility repairs, modification, and upgrades. Understand and act accordingly with respect to utilities needs / changes, equipment installation and moves and management of contractors when appropriate.
  • Maintain schedules and consistent communication of progress and challenges to the timeline and budget.
  • Lead layout activities and incorporate lean principles to reflect cell / value stream and even office effectiveness and waste elimination. Work with Lean Leader to optimize and drive consensus.
  • Assist with planning and cost estimates for annual and longer‑term capital budgets.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in maintenance labor, maintenance parts, and facilities budgets within specified levels.
  • Provide training and certification support to all maintenance personnel to improve job performance and safety performance.
  • Lead or participate in cost improvement efforts.
  • Lead, coach, and influence all direct and indirect employees affiliated with the Department.
  • Establish, promote, and maintain safety standards, utilizing employee meetings, safety committee and effective training.

Qualifications

We need you to have:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of related professional and progressive manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • 2+ years prior technical team management experience combined with a proven track record of developing, coaching, and mentoring a diverse workforce.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, Power‑Point, Project) and CAD Design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self‑directed with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • A commitment to excellence and continuous improvement with experience in various Continuous Improvement Processes and initiatives (e.g., 5S, Value Stream, Six Sigma, TPM).
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
Icing On The Cake
  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
  • Proficient in SAP a plus.
Bonus Eligibility

The role is eligible for a 14% annual incentive provided the business meets financial goals and the individual meets performance goals, subject to plan administration guidelines.
