Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. is seeking an experienced engineering leader to plan, direct, and coordinate the engineering department to design, manufacture, test components, and tooling, ensuring projects meet schedule and budget.

You will supervise staff, approve designs, manage procurements for tooling and external services, and drive continuous improvement using CMMS, lean methods, and metrology tools such as calipers and micrometers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or seven years related experience.
• Six Sigma, SPC certifications are listed; Lean Management preferred but not required.
• Blueprint reading and measurement tools knowledge required.

Responsibilities

Job description

SUMMARY:

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the engineering department to design, manufacture, and test components, products, and related tooling by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.

Provides cost estimates for production parts.

Directs and coordinates activities of engineering personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budgets.

Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

Reviews and approves design changes. Works with designers to meet design standards.

Directs purchasing activities for tooling and outside services.

May be required to perform some duties of process, mechanical, and electrical engineering in their absence.

Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to help understand unplanned equipment downtime, implement predictive maintenance solutions, and optimize performance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of the engineering department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or minimum of seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

6-Sigma, SPC

Lean Management, preferred but not required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Blueprint reading a must. Handheld measuring instruments - caliper - micrometers. Must possess good people skills
