Job summary

Job description

Job Purpose
  • Plan and schedule project engineering activities efficiently.
  • Estimate required manhours and support the project manager in budget finalization.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Identify technical and engineering risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Assign and monitor project resources to optimize performance.
  • Track engineering progress and control manhours effectively.
  • Implement standardization to enhance resource and process efficiency.
  • Oversee all technical and design aspects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Guide the project team, participate in critical design meetings, and support testing activities.
  • Adhere to organizational quality processes and workflow requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Review customer project specifications and standard requirements.
  • Estimate and plan manpower, materials, and engineering deliverables for the entire project.
  • Develop and manage engineering schedules to align with the overall project timeline.
  • Estimate, track, and control manhours throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review Quality Gate Checklists for system hardware and software engineering across all project phases—Initiation, Planning, Execution, and Control to ensure project success.
  • Assess resource skill sets, allocate tasks, and monitor performance to optimize efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance to Lead Project Engineers and Lead System Engineers on project-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, best practices, and organizational quality processes.
  • Support the project team in developing purchase requisitions and preparing technical evaluations for third‑party package systems, cabinet integration, buyout items, and site contractor requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Guide the project team in preparing for key design meetings with customers and end‑users.
  • Actively participate in design review meetings alongside the project team, ensuring all technical aspects are addressed.
  • Identify and document deviations from project specifications and standards, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Monitor project engineering progress and design aspects, raising design or scope changes when required.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including procurement, construction, and commissioning, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing change orders by estimating efforts and resource requirements.
  • Support site execution teams by providing necessary technical clarifications and engineering solutions during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Serve as a core team member for mega projects, driving engineering execution from start to finish.
  • Ensure all engineering documentation is accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and standardization to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce engineering cycle time and improve resource utilization.
  • Develop and apply automation tools, templates, and workflows to minimize manual efforts and enhance efficiency.
  • Conduct post‑project analysis to identify lessons learned and recommend improvements for future projects.
  • Train and mentor engineering teams on productivity improvement strategies and best practices.
  • Report to the Engineering Division Manager and/or Project Director on a daily basis, providing updates on progress, risks, and critical issues.
Qualification And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • MBA in Engineering Management or Operations Management (added advantage).
  • Minimum 18+ years of experience in Project & System Engineering, Testing, Site Installation, and Commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Hands‑on experience with Yokogawa DCS, RTU/SCADA, and SIS Systems (preferred).
Competencies
  • Knowledge and experience with OT‑Cybersecurity requirements.
  • Strong design and engineering background in both greenfield and brownfield system projects.
  • Expertise in creating and implementing project execution strategies that align with company and customer targets.
  • Proven ability to develop strategies for error‑free system design.
  • Proficient in project design engineering analysis and applying improvement techniques.
  • Skilled in execution strategies focused on improving project planning, productivity, and product/service quality.
