Job summary

LANXESS seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Engineering and Maintenance organization at the Bushy Park site, overseeing capital projects up to $3M and driving process optimization while ensuring safety and reliability.

You will develop talent, manage the site budget, and champion continuous improvement as a senior member of the Site Leadership Team, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering field with extensive process experience.
  • 10+ years in manufacturing chemical or process-based industrial environment.
  • Experience in engineering leadership, plant/process engineering, capital project management, change management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop site Engineering and Maintenance organizations for safe, reliable operations.
  • Own and manage the site capital budget and coordinate with the business team.
  • Lead capital projects up to $3M from concept through design, implementation, and startup.
  • Provide project engineering and project management support across the site.
  • Drive chemical process engineering and process optimization initiatives.
  • Manage technical issues related to modifications, expansions, and maintenance, ensuring standards are incorporated.
  • Champion continuous improvement across engineering, maintenance, and reliability processes.
  • Serve as a senior leader on the Site Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Optimize energy usage and infrastructure, supporting Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Ensure all safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements are met.

Overview

The Engineering Manager is a critical member of the site leadership team, responsible for leading the Engineering and Maintenance organization. This role owns the site capital budget and leads capital projects up to $3M, ensuring projects are designed and executed with a strong focus on safety, operability, reliability, and cost effectiveness. The Engineering Manager plays a key role in process optimization, new product alignment, and continuous improvement, while developing talent to meet both current and future business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the site Engineering and Maintenance organizations to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations
  • Own and manage the site capital budget, including planning, prioritization, execution and coordination with the business team.
  • Lead capital projects up to $3M, from concept through design, implementation, and startup
  • Provide project engineering and project management support across the site
  • Drive chemical process engineering and process optimization initiatives
  • Manage technical issues related to modifications, expansions, and maintenance, ensuring RAGAGEP standards are incorporated into all designs and changes
  • Champion continuous improvement across engineering, maintenance, and reliability processes
  • Serve as a senior leader and active member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Optimize energy usage and infrastructure, supporting Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives
  • Ensure all safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements are met or exceeded, including
    • PSM
    • RMP
    • ISO 9001
    • RC14001
    • NFPA 70B
    • API 510/520/521/570/653
    • Site safety processes and audit

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or another engineering discipline with extensive process engineering experience
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing, chemical, or process‑based industrial environment

    • Capital project management and execution

    • Continuous improvement and reliability
