Job summary

Waymo is seeking an experienced, technically hands-on engineering manager to lead a small data science–friendly team and scale eval and ML tooling across new cities. This hybrid role requires strong C++, SQL, Python, and data analytics skills, plus 7+ years and prior people leadership.

You will build mining and sampling tools, advance simulations, and collaborate across product, engineering, and data science to deliver scalable solutions, driving safety and service quality improvements.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in a quantitative field (CS/Robotics/Stats/Physics/Math)
• 7+ years of industry experience in C++, SQL, and Python
• Experience leading teams up to 8 people
• Strong data fluency, statistics, and ML fundamentals

Responsibilities

• Develop tools to mine safety-relevant data from driving logs for evaluation and ML datasets
• Apply sampling, simulations, and ML to improve metrics and models
• Build automation for mining and sampling ecosystem to scale to new cities
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for data science–friendly engineers
• Collaborate with leads and teams across Waymo to determine and execute on strategy
