Job summary

Great Plains Manufacturing, a Kubota subsidiary, seeks an experienced Engineering Team Lead for the CE Attachments product development team in Salina, KS. This on-site role leads design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of Kubota-branded attachments for compact track loaders and excavators.

You will provide technical leadership, manage project execution, mentor engineers, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of design or product engineering experience in construction equipment or related industries.
• 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong foundation in structural design, welding, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
• Proficient with CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, Windchill and FEA.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the CE Attachment engineering team focusing on design and development of Ground Engaging and Material Handling attachments.
• Own product development lifecycle from concept through product release using Stage Gate: planning, design, testing, validation, and launch.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to onsite and overseas contract engineers, driving technical excellence.
• Review engineering deliverables for accuracy, safety and quality compliance.
• Drive product improvements with emphasis on performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.
• Manage multiple engineering projects concurrently from concept through production, prioritizing schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and product management teams.
• Follow all safety regulations and wear prescribed protective equipment.

Salina, KS. Great Plains Manufacturing, a proud subsidiary of Kubota, is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Lead to join our Construction Equipment (CE) Attachment Product Development team in Salina, KS.

Engineering Team Lead – CE Attachments

The Engineering Team Lead will lead the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of Kubota-branded construction equipment attachments while providing technical leadership and managing project execution. This is an on-site position based in Salina, KS and typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional out-of-state travel is required.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the CE Attachment engineering team, with the focus on design and development of Ground Engaging and Material Handling attachments for Compact Track Loaders and Excavators.
• Own product development lifecycle from concept through product release using the Stage Gate process: planning, design, testing, validation, and launch.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to onsite and overseas contract engineers, driving technical excellence and career development.
• Review engineering deliverables (designs, calculations, drawings, specifications) for accuracy, safety and quality compliance.
• Drive innovation and product improvements with emphasis on performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Manage multiple engineering projects concurrently from concept through production, setting priorities, schedules, budgets, etc.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and product management teams.
• Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned that require additional qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural or BioSystems Machinery Engineering, or related engineering discipline from a four-year college or university
• 7+ years of design or product engineering experience in construction equipment, heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, or related industries
• 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated success in managing complex engineering projects
• Strong foundation in structural design, welding, fabrication, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
• Proficient with CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, Windchill and FEA applications
• Able and willing to travel out of state for multiple days during development phases
