Stellantis is seeking an Engineering Lead for the Fuel Fill Tube and Fuel/Vapor Line commodity in Auburn Hills, MI. The role defines specifications, leads design reviews, and establishes validation plans for new programs while driving root-cause analysis for field warranty issues.

Qualifications include a BS in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience (5+ in automotive design), DFMEA and DVP&R experience, and DFSS Green Belt preferred. On-site position at CTC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years total experience with 5+ years in automotive design/development (fuel systems/UREA).
  • Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R preferred.
  • DFSS Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of STLA releasing systems and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Define and update specifications for Fuel Fill Tube & Fuel/Vapor Line.
  • Lead design reviews with release engineers to meet best practices.
  • Maintain core DVPR and establish validation plans for new programs.
  • Lead root-cause and corrective-action development for field warranty returns.
  • Coordinate lessons learned and institutionalize into core documents.
  • Guide DREs in use of DFMEA, DVPR, and KT problem solving methodology.

Job description

Engineering Lead for Fuel Fill Tube & Fuel/Vapor Line commodity will be responsible for defining & updating specifications, coordinating and leading design reviews with release engineers to ensure designs meet best practices, maintain core DVPR and establishing validation plan for new program development, lead root cause and corrective action development for field warranty returns, and initiate lessons learned and institutionalize into core documents.

Expectations:
  • Guide DRE's in the use of engineering tools such as DFMEA, DVPR, KT problem solving methodology
  • Manage updates and release of Core Documents, Performance Specifications, Lab Procedures
  • Maintain Lesson's Learned for the commodity and institutionalizing back into PF & EDPs
  • Review with DREs and provide guidance to meet EDP requirements at development milestones
  • Provide technical feasibility for internal bulletin response
  • Lead root cause for DV PV failures
  • Support field warranty data reviews and provide technical guidance on next steps to be taken
  • Review VO ideas for feasibility and provide anticipated validation plan as needed
  • On site at CTC to support design reviews & issue resolution with team.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering or related degree field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of overall experience including a minimum of 5 years of design/development automotive engineering experience in Fuel Systems and/or UREA, will consider an internship with Fuel Systems (UREA also considered) as part of that experience as well as Plant Quality/Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Experience in the following areas would be beneficial: Formula SAE, Baja, or similar experience in college.
  • Self-starter with strong leadership, communication & organizational skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of STLA releasing systems and change management process.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Black belt certification for DFSS & Reactive Problem Solving.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in tooling used for line & tube forming and injection molding.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13331
  • Demonstrated work history within the Fuel/Vapor Line and/or Fill Tube commodities from concept phase to post launch; ie have launched multiple products.
