Job summary

Teradyne is seeking an Engineering Test Lab Engineer to support mechanical design teams and the on-site machine shop in North Reading, MA. You will ensure engineers have required test platforms, maintain systems, and help design verification fixtures.

You will design fixtures, conduct DoE-based verification, coordinate resources, and monitor budgets while collaborating across engineering groups to address issues promptly.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-year A.S in Engineering Science or related field required.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical product development and design processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of consumables, accessories, and equipment to support engineering testing.
• Maintain Teradyne testing systems, perform upgrades and repairs as needed.
• Design and fabricate test fixtures for verification testing of new designs.
• Perform design verification testing following DoE procedures.
• Coordinate verification tasks with engineering teams and manage resources and budgets.

Opportunity Overview

We are looking for an Engineering Test Lab Engineer to integrate with our mechanical engineering design teams and machine shop. Responsibilities include working with other engineers to:

• Ensure engineers have the materials and test platforms required to quickly address customer facing or factory support issues by maintaining inventory of consumables, accessories, and equipment and ordering replacements as needed
• Maintain Teradyne systems used for engineering testing by performing maintenance and debugging problems, as well as doing upgrades and repairs as needed, also thereby ensuring engineers can quickly address critical issues in a timely manner.
• Design and fabricate test fixtures for performing verification testing of new designs
• Perform design verification testing by following a design of experiments design verification process
• Help coordinate design verification tasks with our engineering teams; Balance material needs, engineering resources and system availability to ensure projects are executed on-time and efficiently.

• Facilitate the fabrication of mechanical parts and communication between our on-site machine shop, engineering teams, and 3rd party suppliers to ensure materials are ready for design activity.

• Monitor project activities and report status to project managers and senior management

• Identify and mitigate risks and issues throughout design verification activities
• Help manage and track material budgets and lab expenditures

• • Minimum 2-year A.S in Engineering Science or related field, B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
  • Some understanding of the development process of electro-mechanical products
  • Strong knowledge in at least one major discipline such as Engineering, Operations, and Marketing
  • 2+ years of technical engineering or product development experience preferred
  • Initiative-taking, accountable individual with strong commitment to meeting personal and team goals as well as professional development.
  • Project Management background in multi-functional project environments is a plus
  • Versatile interpersonal and communications skills with an ability to modify style to a broad range of audiences and situations.
  • Strong expertise in systematic approach to problem-solving. Candidate identifies problems and takes initiative to resolve them by working with Project Leadership team.
  • Exceptional competency to lead and drive complex decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and written / verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project Scheduling tools.
  • This position is onsite in North Reading, MA.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $65,000 - $104,000. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
