Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) invites engineering students to join a hands-on internship/co-op in MPLX’s Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services. You will contribute to real projects, from scope development to field operations across pipelines and processing facilities.

The program emphasizes safety, integrity and collaboration, with on-site work for 40 hours weekly and potential for multiple terms.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree (or higher) seeking program for the duration of the experience.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
  • Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
  • Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
  • Time spent in the field monitoring and managing activities at midstream facilities.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Available for multiple work terms preferred.
  • MIN - $33.54 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Project scope development, including estimating, scheduling, design, contractor engagement and construction oversight.
  • DOT-regulated pipeline integrity and maintenance programs.
  • Field work at pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, gas processing plants and related facilities.
  • Support midstream initiatives: Automation/controls engineering, Electrical, Process, Project, Operations, Reliability engineering, Pipeline integrity, Corrosion, and Measurement services.
