Job summary

TYLin in Chicago, IL seeks a Buildings Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to immerse in diverse structural projects, including new construction, renovation, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation.

You will work with project teams to prepare designs and drawings from concept through construction, perform field reviews, and gain hands-on experience with engineering plans, REVIT Structure, and modeling tools.

Qualifications

• Current 3rd year undergrad or graduate student in Civil/Architectural Engineering programs focusing on structures.
• Completion of steel and concrete design classes preferred; at least one is required.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel and engineering software; REVIT Structure is a plus.
• Co‑op/internship experience in commercial, institutional, or residential buildings is a plus.

Job Summary

TYLin is looking for an intern to join our Chicago, IL office for the Summer of 2027. As a Buildings Engineering Intern, you'll gain the opportunity to immerse yourself in diverse projects. Our structural engineering services for vertical structures include new construction projects, renovation, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation. Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You Will Do

• Work with the project team to assist in preparing structural design and drawings for buildings (commercial, institutional, residential, etc.) from conceptual and preliminary stages of design through construction
• Perform field review for projects under construction and/or visit existing buildings to document existing conditions
• Become familiar with engineering plans and details
• Assist with computer modeling & hand calculations

Your Education and Experience

• Requires current 3rd year standing as an undergraduate, or a Graduate student standing, in an accredited Civil Engineering program or Architectural Engineering program (with a focus on structures)
• Completion of steel and concrete design classes preferred, completion of at least one of these classes required.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel and engineering software
• Familiarity with REVIT Structure beneficial
• Co-op/Internship experience related to commercial, institutional, or residential buildings would be considered an asset.

Additional Information
