Job summary

String is seeking an Engineering Intern in New York City to work with the CTO on real systems, including agent workflows, the command-line tools we use to coordinate work, and the web access infrastructure behind our product. You will start by running what already exists, identifying inefficiencies, and shipping a small fix.

From there, you will take ownership of a tool or workflow and improve it end to end, collaborating with the team and going through the same tickets and pull requests as

Qualifications

• Experience with Git and at least one programming language.
• Comfortable with TypeScript and shell; some Go and Python.
• Ability to work in a fast-moving startup-like environment and learn unfamiliar systems.

Responsibilities

• Use String's tools on real tasks and document surprises.
• Ship a small pull request early on (fix a bug, improve a script, add a test, or remove a rough edge).
• Disassemble an existing agent workflow, understand it, and make it better.
• Build a tool for a manual process handled by a teammate.
• Investigate failures, write tests, review code, and explain decisions behind changes.
• Work directly with Logan and other engineers; your work goes through tickets, reviews, and PRs like everyone else's.
