Collins Engineer, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Chicago, IL. The role combines office work with field experience in structural design, inspections, and load rating, mentored by licensed engineers.

Open to junior or senior-year undergrads pursuing civil engineering, with preferred software experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Blue Beam, or Civil 3D and familiarity with Office and PDF tools.

Qualifications

• Junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Blue Beam or Civil 3D is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF or other PDF editing software is a plus.
• A valid driver's license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists engineering teams in various tasks and duties.
• Assists Engineer with research, development and design of projects.
• Assists Engineer with the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned.
• Assists inspection team leaders with the preparation of inspection reports and supporting field work as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Our Chicago, IL office has an opening for a **Structural Engineering Internship** position for Summer 2027. This position will be a combination of office and time in the field. You will be able to get hands-on experience collaborating on bridge inspections, bridge design and load rating, and working on other various tasks with our seasoned engineers.
