Job summary

Swagelok, a world leader in industrial fluid systems, offers a 12-week summer internship program in Northeast Ohio. Interns are matched to Corporate, Operations, or Automation roles based on interests and experience and engage in meaningful projects to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

During the internship you will gain hands-on experience, collaborate with Swagelok associates, and have opportunities for resume reviews and interview prep with executives and industry experts.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States and available for a 10–12 week summer period.
  • Open to Solon or other Northeast Ohio locations; relocation not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, test and/or develop new or existing products.
  • Document manufacturing/assembly processes and evaluate test results.
  • Use data and data-driven methods to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with MS Office, SolidWorks and SAP as part of project work.

Position Summary:

Swagelok is a worldwide leader in industrial fluid systems - founded in 1947 on the merits of its revolutionary, leak-tight tube fitting. Swagelok offers an immersive 12-week summer internship program that gives interns the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience through meaningful projects and develop both personally and professionally. Over the summer you’ll combine what you learn in the classroom with applied work experience in Engineering.

  • You will be matched to a Corporate Engineering, Operations Engineering, or Automation Engineering role based on your experience and interests, supporting projects that drive innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • You will lead impactful projects that are focused on either continuous improvement, enhancing quality, optimizing cost‑saving measures, or advancing safety measures of our processes and/or products.
  • You will be challenged to apply and develop the technical and interpersonal skills needed to succeed for years beyond the internship experience.
  • You will further improve your problem‑solving skills and be encouraged to collaborate with other Swagelok associates.
  • You will participate in a variety of activities over the summer including: networking, learning the business, Swagelok associate resource groups, facility tours, professional development, and volunteering in the community.
  • You will have direct engagement with executives and leading experts in our industry.
  • You will have an opportunity to participate in resume reviews and mock interviews to prepare you for future opportunities at Swagelok.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As an Engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Follow and apply company policies and procedures related to systems and processes supporting product performance
  • Manufacture, assemble, test and/or develop new or existing products
  • Properly document product manufacturing and/or assembly processes
  • Write, edit and evaluate technical documentation including test reports, lab results and other process/capability studies
  • Use data to drive continuous improvement solutions and process improvements
  • Use various software programs/packages including Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Infinity QS, SAP, etc.

Throughout the assignment, a strong emphasis will be placed on Teamwork and Collaboration with frequent opportunities to develop and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required:
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Industrial & Systems, Electrical, Automation or related field
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Able to work 10-12 weeks consecutively during the summer
  • Open to working one of our Northeast Ohio locations: Solon, Strongsville, Eastlake, Highland Hills, or Willoughby without relocation support
Preferred:
  • Prior internship experience is preferred.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift, push, stoop, or carry weight >= 35 lbs.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
  • May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity tests.
