Job summary

RAM Aerospace is seeking an Engineering Intern to work year-round part-time at the St. George, Utah facility.

You will gain hands-on exposure to CAD modeling, design documentation, and the design change process that moves aerospace components from concept to production. You will work alongside experienced engineers, assisting with 3D CAD modeling, drawings, and analysis while developing practical aerospace design skills for solenoids, valves, and actuators.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum sophomore standing; junior or senior standing preferred.
• ITAR: must be a U.S. citizen/national or lawful resident as required.

Responsibilities

• CAD & Design Support: assist with 3D CAD modeling, drawing updates, and design documentation for solenoids, valves, and actuators.
• Engineering Analysis Support: assist with tolerance stack-ups, basic stress and mechanical assessments, and performance evaluations.
• Documentation & Design Change Support: maintain design docs, drawings, specifications, and change records.
• Cross-Functional Exposure: interact with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and R&D throughout the product lifecycle.
• Continuous Learning & Development: build technical skills and product knowledge over time.

RAM Aerospace’s Engineering Intern program is built for engineering students who want more than a summer project. This is a year-round, part-time position designed to fit alongside your academic schedule, giving you sustained, meaningful exposure to the full range of work our Design Engineering team performs on precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Based at RAM’s St. George facility, you will work directly alongside experienced design engineers, gaining broad exposure to CAD modeling, engineering analysis, documentation, and the design change process that keeps RAM’s products moving from concept to production. By the time you finish school, you will have built a level of hands-on aerospace design engineering experience that very few of your peers can match. Duties And Responsibilities

• CAD & Design Support: Assist design engineers with 3D CAD modeling, drawing updates, and design documentation for solenoids, valves, and actuators. Support design iterations and contribute to design reviews as your familiarity with RAM’s products and processes grows.
• Engineering Analysis Support: Support engineering analysis activities, including tolerance stack-ups, basic stress and mechanical assessments, and performance evaluations. Learn to apply analytical methods under the guidance of senior engineers, building a working understanding of how design decisions affect real-world performance.
• Documentation & Design Change Support: Assist with maintaining accurate design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and engineering change records. Support the design change process by helping ensure documentation stays current and traceable as designs evolve.
• Cross-Functional Exposure: Gain exposure to how Design Engineering collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and R&D throughout the product lifecycle. Participate in design reviews and cross-functional discussions to build a broader understanding of how RAM brings a product from concept to production.
• Continuous Learning & Development: Engage actively with design engineers to build your technical skills and product knowledge over time. Ask good questions, take ownership of your development, and bring growing capability and initiative to your work with each passing semester.

Requirements

• Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
• ITAR: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum sophomore standing required. Junior or senior standing preferred.
• Exposure to 3D CAD software through coursework or personal projects preferred. SolidWorks experience a plus.
• Basic understanding of mechanical design principles gained through coursework.
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy in both technical work and documentation.
• Ability to commit to a consistent part-time schedule throughout the academic year, with flexibility to increase hours during breaks if desired.
• Eager to learn, self-motivated, and comfortable working in an active engineering environment alongside experienced professionals.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document work accurately and collaborate effectively with engineers.
