Job summary

Phenix Technology, Inc. is seeking an engineering intern to assist in the design and development of new products, tooling, and projects in a manufacturing setting. You’ll contribute to product testing, design reviews, and CAD model creation while collaborating with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, documentation, and cross-functional teamwork to drive continuous improvement and practical solutions.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering.
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo/ProE, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of engineering analysis principles.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and development of new products, tooling, and engineering projects.
  • Support product testing and validation to ensure compliance with NFPA, ISO 9001:2015, and applicable industry standards.
  • Perform design reviews and document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and revise 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Assist with prototype builds, evaluations, and testing activities.
  • Help identify manufacturing or process improvement opportunities and recommend practical solutions.
  • Support project planning, including scope, timelines, and estimated engineering hours.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, specifications, reports, and test records.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams on cross-functional projects.
  • Perform research related to materials, manufacturing methods, and product improvements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job description

Employment Type:Temporary, Full-Time, Intern

Schedule:Monday-Thursday | 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Travel:Minimal (less than 10%) Occasional travel may be required, including day trips, overnight, and out-of-state travel.

What You'll Do

What You Bring
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo/ProE, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of engineering analysis principles.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CAE, CAM, or FEA through coursework or projects.
  • Exposure to PLM systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Hands‑on experience with prototyping or manufacturing equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools and equipment.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision correctable to accurately read drawings, specifications, and small text.
