Job summary

Kearfott Corporation in Pine Brook, NJ invites motivated students to join a world-class guidance and navigation development team for hands-on engineering exposure. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to enhance skills and contribute to missile, aircraft, and ground vehicle systems.

The internship runs Summer 2027, full-time for 10 weeks (June 7 – August 13, 2027). Expect to gain experience in modeling, analysis, and coding with MATLAB, Simulink, and C++, plus SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• GPA of 3.2 or above preferred.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Coursework or experience in software programming, SolidWorks, analog/digital design, guidance & control, systems analysis, or systems integration.

Responsibilities

• Assist in engineering assessment, analysis, and design of missile, aircraft, and ground vehicle guidance and navigation systems.
• Coordinate and develop engineering solutions; perform trade studies and system modeling.
• Review technical data; participate in project planning and data reviews.
• Develop computer codes to evaluate mathematical models and display results.
• Support reports and briefings describing results and significance of analyses.

Engineering Intern – (PINE BROOK NJ)

The qualified candidate will become part of the Kearfott Guidance & Navigation product development and support team. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, people-focused environment whereyou will work directly with experienced engineers and scientists to enhance your skills and develop a higher level of confidence in your capabilities.

Engineering interns will assist in the engineering assessment, analysis, and design of missile, aircraft, and ground vehicle guidanceandnavigation systems.

Engineering Interns will:

• Help in the coordination and development of engineering solutions; 2) research and determine requirements for components and systems; 3) derive technical data from test data and analysis; and 4) defend engineering solutions during internal reviews.
• Other responsibilities may include: trade studies, project planning, system modeling, review of technical and management data, performance assessment, problem identification, corrective action planning and implementation.
• Work with engineering teams to understand and evaluate the effects of changes in system requirements and designs.
• Support design trade studies evaluating cost and effectiveness.
• Help develop computer codes to evaluate mathematical models.
• Develop graphics displaying results of analyses.
• Support reports and briefings describing results and significance of analyses performed.
• Support definition, design and development of system requirements.
• Support assessment of current system architecture and limitations.
• Support technical investigations in systems design.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
• GPA of 3.2 or above preferred.
• Experience in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other similar engineering or scientific majors.
• Knowledgeable in some of the following areas: software programming, SolidWorks 3D computer-aided design, analog/digital design, guidance & control, systems analysis, or systems integration.
• Have coursework, interest, motivation, and experience that provide the foundation to develop an expertise in one or more of the above engineering specialties.
• Completed at least sophomore year of college/university.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• General knowledge and understanding of mathematical modeling and analysis methods.
• Programming skills (e.g., Excel, LabVIEW, MathCad, MATLAB, Simulink, C++, or equivalent).
• Must be a US Citizen.

Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 10 weeks during thesummer of 2027. The Internship Program is expected to run from June 7, 2027 – August 13, 2027

The salary range is $20.00 - $30.00/hourly. The final compensation amount will be determined based on factors such as experience level, skill set, school year, major, etc.
