Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in software programming, and engineering tools listed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in engineering assessment, analysis, and design of missile, aircraft, and ground vehicle guidance and navigation systems.
  • Coordinate and develop engineering solutions; research requirements for components and systems.
  • Develop computer codes to evaluate mathematical models and create graphics showing analysis results.
  • Support trade studies, system modeling, and reviews of technical and management data.

  • Prepare reports and briefings describing analyses and results.

ENGINEERING INTERN – (PINE BROOK NJ)

The qualified candidate will become part of the Kearfott Guidance & Navigation product development and support team. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, people‑focused environment where you will work directly with experienced engineers and scientists to enhance your skills and develop a higher level of confidence in your capabilities.

Engineering Interns will assist in the engineering assessment, analysis, and design of missile, aircraft, and ground vehicle guidance and navigation systems.

Engineering Interns will:
  • Help in the coordination and development of engineering solutions; 2) research and determine requirements for components and systems; 3) derive technical data from test data and analysis; and 4) defend engineering solutions during internal reviews.
  • Other responsibilities may include: trade studies, project planning, system modeling, review of technical and management data, performance assessment, problem identification, corrective action planning and implementation.
  • Work with engineering teams to understand and evaluate the effects of changes in system requirements and designs.
  • Support design trade studies evaluating cost and effectiveness.
  • Help develop computer codes to evaluate mathematical models.
  • Develop graphics displaying results of analyses.
  • Support reports and briefings describing results and significance of analyses performed.
  • Support definition, design and development of system requirements.
  • Support assessment of current system architecture and limitations.
  • Support technical investigations in systems design.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated creative problem‑solving skills.
  • GPA of 3.2 or above preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other similar engineering or scientific majors.
  • Knowledgeable in some of the following areas: software programming, SolidWorks 3D computer‑aided design, analog/digital design, guidance & control, systems analysis, or systems integration.
  • Have coursework, interest, motivation, and experience that provide the foundation to develop an expertise in one or more of the above engineering specialties.
  • Completed at least sophomore year of college/university.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • General knowledge and understanding of mathematical modeling and analysis methods.
  • Programming skills (e.g., Excel, LabVIEW, MathCad, MATLAB, Simulink, C++, or equivalent).
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Our 2027 Summer Internship plans to focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics: Robotics, Physics, AI / Computer Vision, Space Vehicles, and Missile Technologies. - In your own words, briefly describe a challenge facing the Aerospace and Defense Industry related to one or more of the listed topics (or a topic of your own choosing), and how you would approach that challenge during your time here with Kearfott should you be selected.

Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer of 2027. The Internship Program is expected to run from June 7, 2027 – August 13, 2027

The salary range is $20.00 - $30.00/hourly. The final compensation amount will be determined based on factors such as experience level, skill set, school year, major, etc.
