Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or another related field and must have completed at least 2 years of study.
  • Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects for a variety of clients.
  • Assist with discrete work tasks required in preparation of roadway design set of plans.
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices.
  • Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in Coral Gables, FL.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or another related field and must have completed at least 2 years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree emphasis in transportation engineering preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, ORD, Civil 3D, or other engineering software packages.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Detail‑oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project.
  • Documents time and effort accurately.
  • Interest in transportation infrastructure design.
Additional Information
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Coral Gables, FL. The selected candidate must be available to work in Coral Gables, FL on a scheduled basis.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $21 to $25.
