Job summary

California Air Resources Board is seeking a qualified professional to support sequestration and CCS regulatory work in the United States. The role includes reviewing certification applications, evaluating geologic data, and contributing to CCS regulations and guidance.

The position involves presenting findings to diverse audiences, collaborating across CARB divisions and external partners, and occasional travel for field visits, workshops, and conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Review site certification applications for Sequestration Site Certification and CCS Project Certification to ensure compliance with CARB CCS Protocol.
  • Evaluate site-specific data on geologic formations, seal integrity, monitoring plans, and storage performance.
  • Contribute to the development and amendment of CCS regulations, protocols, and technical support documents.
  • Prepare and present technical findings to internal and external stakeholders, including at public workshops and interagency meetings.
  • Collaborate with other CARB divisions, CalEPA boards and departments, federal and state agencies, industry, and community stakeholders.
  • Occasional travel for field visits, public meetings, and conferences.

Job description

In this role, you will:

This position will require occasional travelfor field visits, public meetings, and conferences.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.

  • Position located in a high-rise building.
  • Requires being stationary, consistent with office work, for extended periods.
  • Standard office environment (artificial lighting, controlled temperature, etc.).
  • Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
