Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Austin is hiring a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician. No prior experience is required; paid training is provided and we cover certification fees.

The role is field-based, collects data, documents site conditions, and supports testing activities under supervision. You will observe and test soil, aggregates, and concrete, coordinate with contractors and project managers, and help with daily field reports.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills (verbal, written, reading comprehension).
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented work ethic.
• Basic math skills and data entry ability.
• Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret plans (developing).
• Basic proficiency with electronic devices (tablets, phones, laptops).
• Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs).
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local/state laws and policies.

Responsibilities

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Austin team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Field Technician performs field observations and begins conducting routine testing of construction materials under direct supervision. This role is primarily field-based and supports project execution by collecting data, documenting site conditions, and assisting with testing activities. The Field Technician develops foundational technical skills and familiarity with construction practices while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 0 years of related experience
• High school diploma or GED required
• Obtain basic certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
• If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
• Good communication skills (verbal, written, and reading comprehension)

• Very limited to no knowledge of CMT principles and testing standards
• Basic math skills and data entry ability
• Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret plans (developing)

• Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs)
