Job Title: Engineering Equipment Operator

Summary

The typical seasonal period is April through June but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2025.
Responsibilities:
Physical Demands:
Heavy physical effort is required, including constant reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate equipment. Considerable strain is caused by constant vibration of the equipment and operating over rough surfaces. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and exerts similar effort when pushing, pulling, turning, and positioning parts, assemblies, equipment, and tools.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both inside and outside, with the majority of work being outside. Exposure to inclement weather is frequent, including rain, mud, snow, and extreme temperatures. The operator may experience irritation or discomfort from dust, fumes, oils, solvents, and cold dampness. Potential hazards include cuts, abrasions, bruises, and strains. Summer conditions may involve noise and hazards from poisonous plants, insects, wild animals, and snakes. Safety practices and equipment such as protective hearing devices and hard hats must be used.
Air Quality: Poor air quality affects Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, especially during summer months (generally May to October), with high ozone levels being a significant concern. For more information, visit: Air Quality Information.
