Job summary

McKim & Creed is seeking an Engineering Designer, Land Development in our Tampa office to support civil engineering projects as part of a project team. You will prepare design computations, drawings, and bid documents under the direction of the Project Manager.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and proficiency in CAD Civil 3D, with strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate with the design team and PMs. FE/EIT and residency in Florida preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proficient in CAD Civil 3D and able to learn other design software as required.
• Process-oriented with strong organization and technical skills.
• Strong writing and verbal skills; able to coordinate with PM and design team.
• May require a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and design services for civil engineering projects as part of a project team.
• Prepare design computations and assessments.
• Produce design/construction drawings, specifications and bid documents.
• Report to Project Manager and complete tasks on budget and on schedule.
• Coordinate design issues with PM and team; stay current with applicable design standards.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE:

• Provides technical and design services in support of civil engineering projects as part of a project team
• Prepares design computations and assessments.
• Produces design/construction drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents.
• Reports directly to their Project Manager.
• Responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
• Communicate and coordinate with Project Manager and design team on design issues and calculations relating to a project.
• Stays current with Local, State & Federal Design Standards and Regulations.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil
• Proficient in CAD Civil 3D and capable of learning other design software programs as required.
• Process-oriented individual with strong organization and technical skills.
• Solid communicator, able to take and understand directives from PM and coordinate efforts with design team.
• Strong writing and verbal skills; Able to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands put on them by PMs.
• May or may not require a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT:

• Experience with design of land development projects preferred.
• NC residency preferred.
