Job description

THE ROLEThe Designer will assist in the design and creation of product models, assemblies, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and drawings in SolidWorks for commercial and production facility needs under direction of engineers and the Director of Engineering. The Design Engineer will maintain product drawings by processing all necessary changes and create drawings per engineering standards. The designer will also perform design calculations and make recommendations for specific elements of a product design in accordance with the applicable codes and standards to which the products are manufactured.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSCreate new product drawings/models and complete necessary calculationsCreate and/or update product drawings and calculations as necessary for product modificationsGenerate and track Engineering Change Requests and New Product Requests with research for the required changeApply basic engineering principles in the design of new or modified productsReviews regulatory artwork for production and manufacturingAbility to apply standards to design work completedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSProficient 2D drawing and 3D modeling ability through use of SolidWorks. Prior work experience with Solid Works required.Communication skills to organize problem solving which is then reflected in engineering designsMechanical design knowledgePreferred Certification in Solid Works and 3 to 5 years of related experiencePrefer Knowledge of GD&T and weld call outsProficient in use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPointMust have strong math skillsMust be detail orientedMust work well with a team
