System One is seeking an Engineering Design Manager to lead design production from development handoff to construction closeout, ensuring on-time delivery and energy outcomes while guiding the project team.

The role requires mentoring junior staff, enforcing design standards, and coordinating with project managers and clients on-site in Tempe, AZ. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of design experience with mechanical, electrical, building automation systems, programming, or building operation management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Attention to safety.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and AutoCad software packages.
• Engineering Intern (EI) certification and/or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (preferred).
• PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of design tasks, ensuring timely progress, accurate documentation, and alignment with project goals.
• Guide and assign tasks to junior staff, monitor performance, and provide mentorship to support team development and efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to design standards and safety protocols while helping implement process updates and conducting initial quality checks.
• Assist in tracking labor hours and budgets, review time entries for accuracy, and contribute to resource planning.
• Facilitate clear communication between staff, project managers, and leadership, and support client interactions under supervision.
• Participate in team activities, promote a positive culture, and handle additional responsibilities as assigned.
