Job summary

Flux Resources, LLC is seeking a full-time exempt engineering consultant to support building energy systems, infrastructure planning, and energy efficiency initiatives across Oregon and Washington in a hybrid, travel-light role.

You will collaborate with developers, architects, engineers, and contractors, analyze energy performance, monitor codes, present findings to leadership and industry partners, and represent the organization on standards committees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with mechanical focus.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in HVAC for building projects.
  • PE license or ability to obtain licensure within two years.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building performance.
  • Experience interpreting building codes and energy standards.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with driving eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and engineers on utility infrastructure planning for construction projects.
  • Represent the organization during building code, standards, and industry committee activities.
  • Research, evaluate, and analyze building energy performance and mechanical systems.
  • Develop technical analyses and recommendations for strategic planning initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, engineering trends, and market developments.
  • Present technical information to internal leadership, customers, and industry partners.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support project execution and technology deployment.
  • Promote safe work practices while balancing priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder needs.

Job description

This is a full-time exempt (40+ hours/week), hybrid and travel-light role (travel not specified) across Oregon and Washington.

Summary
  • Serve as a technical engineering consultant supporting building energy systems, infrastructure planning, and market development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate emerging technologies and advance energy efficiency strategies.
  • Represent the organization on industry committees, advisory groups, and technical standards organizations.
  • Provide engineering guidance to developers, architects, engineers, and contractors on utility infrastructure and mechanical system applications.
  • Perform technical analysis and research to support strategic planning and technology adoption.
  • Monitor industry trends, building codes, and evolving engineering standards.
  • Support new construction and retrofit projects through technical consultation and infrastructure planning.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with HVAC systems supporting residential, commercial, or multifamily construction projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within two years of hire.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical engineering principles, and building performance.
  • Experience interpreting and applying building codes and energy standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to maintain driving eligibility.
Nice to Have
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license already obtained.
  • Experience with building codes and energy efficiency standards.
  • Knowledge of the utility or energy industry.
  • Understanding of natural gas and electric building technologies, market trends, and emerging equipment.
Compensation
  • Salary range: $88,700-$126,350 annually (Level 2) or $110,250-$157,100 annually (Level 3), depending on qualifications
