Job summary

BWC Terminals, headquartered in Houston, TX, seeks an Associate Project Manager to plan, budget, oversee and document liquid terminal projects and support large expansion initiatives. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in industrial construction or project management, strong Excel/reporting skills, and the ability to work independently with leadership guidance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or Project Management or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Industrial, midstream, downstream construction, or project management.
  • Experience with owner-operated industrial facilities preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple small capex projects ($250K–$10M).
  • API and ASME B31.3 preferred; ERP and project management systems experience noted.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple small to medium capital projects within approved budgets and schedules.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Civil, Structural, Mechanical/Piping, Electrical, and Controls/Instrumentation construction.
  • Create, interpret, and review engineering/construction documents (P&IDs, specs, plot plans, isometrics).
  • Develop detailed Scopes of Work (SOWs) to support RFQs for bids.
  • Ensure resources are assigned, informed, and trained; lead change control and stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize cost/schedule impacts.
  • Monitor/budget tracking, percent complete, cost forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Select and evaluate contractors, ensure SOW/specs/quality/governing codes compliance.
  • Facilitate on-site and remote project meetings; document all aspects of projects.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation: AFE forms, cost estimates, status reports, drawings.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Associate Project Manager will plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of specific Liquid Terminal Projects assigned. Support Project Managers with complex large expansion projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Essential duties include:

  • Manage multiple small to medium capital projects simultaneously while meeting approved budgets and schedule deadlines.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Civil, Structural, Mechanical/Piping, Electrical, and Controls/Instrumentation construction.
  • Create, interpret, and review engineering and construction documents such as P&IDs, engineering standards, specifications, plot plans, piping isometrics, and other technical drawings.
  • Develop detailed Scopes of Work (SOWs) to support RFQs for vendor and contractor bidding.
  • Ensure project resources are properly assigned, fully informed, and trained on their responsibilities.
  • Lead and manage project change control, ensuring accurate documentation and stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize impacts to cost and schedule.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, including budget tracking, percent complete, cost forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Select, manage, and evaluate contractors and subcontractors; verify all work meets SOW, specifications, quality standards, governing codes, and maintain high-quality work standards.
  • Facilitate and/or support project meetings, both on-site and remote.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including:
    • AFE forms
    • Cost estimates
    • Status reports
    • Drawings and technical packages
  • Work independently with general guidance from leadership.
  • Communicate effectively, demonstrating strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Provide leadership that promotes teamwork, accountability, and alignment across project stakeholders.
  • Travel within the U.S. as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with ERP and project management systems such as Workday, SAP, Oracle, Maximo, Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reporting, dashboards, and data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
