  • Partner with Quality Engineering on compliance initiatives.

SIFCO Industries, Inc. – Co‑Operative Education Program

SIFCO Industries, Inc., a premier publicly held supplier to the aerospace industry located in Cleveland, OH, seeks a Co‑op. There are 3 different Co‑op opportunities within Quality, Engineering and Operations. Co‑ops are directly responsible for key projects leading to critical business goals in a heavy manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support engineering, quality, and operations in daily tasks as assigned my supervisor
  • Utilize standard continuous improvement tools to assist in documentation of projects.
  • Execute against improvement projects as assigned - product, process, and equipment related - to mitigate safety, quality, and efficiency issues to improve business key performance indicators.
  • Learn forging, heat treatment, and non‑destructive testing processes
  • Gain experience working in a regulated environment, with an aerospace, defense, and energy supplier
  • Learn about customer specifications and requirements
  • Develop simple cost justifications based on business data.
  • Research technical information from common sources and effectively summarize into business reports.
  • Participate in and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, sometimes leading them.
  • Use industry accepted computer analysis tools to collect and process data.
  • Partner with Area Supervision to create, facilitate and maintain department training and Standard Work Procedures
  • Partner with Quality Engineering on ISO, AS and NADCAP compliance initiatives
  • Perform support duties as needed to ensure department goals are met
  • All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited program, and have completed two years of study in preferably one of the following fields:
    • Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
    • Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Materials Science
    • Metallurgy
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve
  • Flexible with work assignments, projects and type of work
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to work and learn in a manufacturing setting
