Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking an Engineering Associate to join our Gulf Coast office. The role supports planning, design, and delivery across civil disciplines, mentored growth, and path toward PE licensure.

You will assist with analyses, prepare plans, and collaborate with survey, environmental, geotechnical, and construction teams on diverse infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 0–4 years of engineering experience.
• FE certification preferred.
• Experience with site civil, transportation, water resources, or related disciplines is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering analysis, calculations, design, and preparation of construction plans and specifications.
• Support project teams in the design and development of transportation, site development, water resources, coastal, federal, and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering reports, cost estimates, quantity calculations, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including survey, environmental, geotechnical, structural, and construction personnel.
• Participate in field visits, site investigations, and construction observations as needed.
• Utilize engineering software to develop design documents and project deliverables.
• Support project managers in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
• Continue professional development while working toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

• Land Development
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, or similar engineering software is preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
