Job summary

TriCom Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Applications Lead to own and oversee the engineering application portfolio.

This hands‑on leadership role manages support, lifecycle activities, upgrades, incident resolution, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement to ensure reliable services and strong governance. Engineering Applications Lead

Summary

Our client is seeking an Engineering Applications Lead to own and manage the engineering application portfolio, ensuring business-critical engineering platforms are stable, supported, properly governed, and aligned with operational and project delivery objectives. This hands-on leadership role oversees application support, lifecycle management, upgrades, issue resolution, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position partners closely with Engineering Leadership, IT, enterprise application teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver reliable application services, optimize user experience, and maintain operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Applications Ownership & Service Delivery:
  • Own the operational health, performance, and service delivery model for the engineering application portfolio;
  • Establish support processes, service standards, escalation procedures, and operational governance practices;
  • Partner with engineering, IT, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and align application services with organizational needs;
  • Monitor application performance, service metrics, recurring issues, risks, and overall platform health;
  • Maintain visibility into major incidents, upgrade readiness, operational risks, and service effectiveness.
• Incident, Problem & Change Management:
  • Lead coordination and resolution of critical incidents impacting engineering applications;
  • Establish and maintain incident, problem, and change management processes;
  • Perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions for recurring issues;
  • Balance production support requirements with maintenance, upgrades, and enhancement initiatives;
  • Ensure documentation exists for support procedures, known issues, release changes, and operational dependencies.
• Oversee application lifecycle management, including version control, patching, upgrades, compatibility reviews, and retirement planning;
• Coordinate release schedules, testing activities, deployment planning, and user communications;
• Manage vendor relationships, support cases, licensing considerations, product roadmaps, and upgrade dependencies;
• Ensure engineering applications comply with enterprise technology, security, and governance standards;
• Evaluate platform enhancements and configuration opportunities while maintaining long-term supportability.
• Lead intake, evaluation, and prioritization of application requests, enhancements, defects, and operational improvements;
• Maintain and manage a prioritized backlog with defined ownership and timelines;
• Coordinate improvement initiatives across internal teams, vendors, and technical partners;
• Drive initiatives that improve reliability, consistency, usability, and operational efficiency;
• Provide leadership with visibility into priorities, progress, risks, and dependencies.
• Leadership & Team Development:
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop engineering application team members;
  • Manage workloads, establish goals, provide performance feedback, and develop team capabilities;
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, responsiveness, and continuous improvement;
  • Support organizational planning and future engineering application resourcing needs.
• Communication & Organizational Leadership:
  • Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders;

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Construction Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 7+ years of experience supporting, administering, or managing engineering/design applications.
• Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or similar environments.
• Proven success in application lifecycle management, including upgrades, version control, release planning, issue resolution, and operational support.
• Experience managing stakeholder priorities, vendor relationships, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience leading support operations, service improvements, and platform governance.
• Strong knowledge of engineering and design platforms, including:
  • Revit;
  • AutoCAD;
  • Navisworks;
  • BIM 360;
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC);
  • Forma;
  • Similar engineering application ecosystems.
• Experience with software configuration, plug-in management, environment standards, and platform compatibility management.
• Strong documentation, prioritization, organizational, and communication skills.
• Availability during standard business hours to support meetings, consultations, and urgent issue resolution.
• Ability to work for extended periods at a computer workstation.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience with incident, problem, and change management practices.
• Experience with automation tools, APIs, scripting, or engineering application customizations.
• Prior leadership, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
