Competenze

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or IT or related field with 1+ year of relevant experience or equivalent combination
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products
• Demonstrated ability to support enterprise systems
• Demonstrates ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
• Experience with software engineering application upgrades
• Experience in evaluating, integrating, administrating, and supporting new software engineering applications
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in a small team setting
• Ability to document work clearly and organize it effectively
• Experience with scripting/programming and automation

Overview

The Core Platform Technology team at Garmin is looking for an Engineering Applications Administrator 2 to engineer, deploy and support ADO and GitHub applications at Garmin’s U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of standards and procedures
• Use tools and scripting to efficiently manage technology
• Participate in roadmap planning for systems or applications
• Coordinate and communicate changes impacting cross-functional team members
• Identify interdependencies in system and application components
• Make recommendations for component level improvements
• Provide administrative support for software engineering applications which these applications are used within the Engineering department, including, but not limited to software configuration management, issue tracking, and other software development related applications
• Provide expertise, support and administration for GitHub
• Provide triage and troubleshooting for incoming user requests to:
  • Ensure requests contain complete and accurate information
  • Classify and categorize requests
  • Handle requests or assign to other team members as appropriate
• Learn how to use and apply engineering tools as needed for this role
• Thoroughly document work in an organized manner; work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates to achieve goals
• Create and maintain programs, scripts, and automate routine tasks where possible
• Ability to prioritize among many competing business initiatives

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Design and Drafting, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or another technology related field AND a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products
• Excellent academics
• Demonstrated ability to support enterprise systems
• Demonstrates ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
• Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
• Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
• Experience with software engineering application upgrades
• Experience in evaluating, integrating, administrating, and supporting new software engineering applications

Desired Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a team environment
• Experience migrating source code from various systems to GitHub Enterprise and has a strong understanding of source control management, tool integration, and repository management in an enterprise environment
• Experience in software engineering applications management
• Experience with the following applications:
  • Azure DevOps
  • Xwiki
  • Artifactory
  • GitHub/Gerrit
  • Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence
  • Jenkins/Zuul
• Expertise and ability to provide fundamental support and administration for Windows and Linux Operating Systems
• Developing tools and processes to improve workflows
• Experience documenting new processes and updating, training and educating other team members
• Scripting and/or programming knowledge
