Job summary

Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. in Ohio seeks an Engineering Analyst to support project managers and senior engineers on power plant piping, headers, tubing, turbines and other critical components.

You will help evaluate failure mechanisms, remaining life and inspection priorities while contributing to safe, reliable operations. The role includes SolidWorks modeling, ANSYS/Abaqus analyses, ASME code support and technical reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 0–3 years of engineering experience (internship, co-op, or professional preferred).
• Interest in mechanical systems, stress analysis and solving complex technical problems.
• FEA, fracture mechanics, fatigue or heat transfer coursework exposure preferred.
• Excel knowledge; databases/programming/automation tools a plus.
• Familiarity with ANSYS, Abaqus and SolidWorks preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication; willingness to learn and support tasks.
• Pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Job description

An Engineering Analyst is expected to provide technical support to project managers and seniorengineering staff on a wide range of engineering analysis and condition assessment projectsinvolving power plant steam piping, headers, tubing, turbines, and other critical mechanicalequipment. The Engineering Analyst plays an integral role in supporting multidisciplinary projectteams and contributes to the evaluation of potential failure mechanisms, identification ofhigh-risk locations, assessment of remaining component life, prioritization of inspectionactivities, and determination of the current condition of in-service equipment.

This role supports condition assessment projects from initial scoping through execution andreporting and includes opportunities to participate in and support field assessments at customerfacilities. Over time, the Engineering Analyst may assume increasing technical responsibility andproject ownership, including leading defined technical tasks and supporting overall projectmanagement efforts. This position offers strong technical development and growth opportunitieswhile contributing to high quality engineering solutions that help ensure the safe, reliable, andlong-term operation of critical energy and industrial infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with engineering analysis and condition assessment projects involving power plant andindustrial mechanical components
• Create representative solid models and drawings of equipment using SolidWorks or othersoftware
• Perform thermal and structural finite element analyses using commercial software such as ANSYSand Abaqus
• Support ASME Code calculations, fitness-for-service evaluations, and remaining lifeassessments
• Work with engineering and inspection data to evaluate component condition, damage mechanisms,and inspection priorities
• Assist with field assessments at customer sites, including supporting nondestructive examinationactivities such as metallurgical replication, hardness testing, and advanced ultrasonic methods
• Prepare and contribute to technical reports, calculations, and client presentations documentingfindings and recommendations
• Support project execution activities, including data review, documentation, and coordinationwith engineering and inspection teams
• Assist with internal engineering initiatives focused on process improvement, methodologydevelopment, automation, and technical quality enhancements

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 0–3 years of engineering experience (internship, co-op, or professional experiencepreferred)
• Interest in mechanical systems, stress analysis, and solving complex technical problems
• Coursework or exposure to finite element analysis, fracture mechanics, fatigue, or heat transferpreferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with databases, programming, or automationtools is a plus
• Familiarity with ANSYS, Abaqus, and/or SolidWorks preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy and quality
• Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and support a variety of engineering tasks
• Expected to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

Travel and Working Conditions

• Approximately 25% travel annually, primarily during scheduled plant outage periods
• Field work at power generation and industrial facilities, with exposure to heat, cold, noise,dust, and humidity
• May require working at moderate heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be able to meet site access requirements, including respirator fit testing, physicals, anddrug screening
