Job summary

The County of El Dorado is seeking an Engineering Aide/Engineering Technician in Placerville, CA. This entry-level to para-professional role provides office and field support for engineering, surveying, and permit work under supervision, with outdoor work and occasional overtime.

Ideal candidates have a foundational understanding of mathematics and will assist with soil testing, plan reviews, and construction support for public works projects such as roads and drainage.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be willing to work overtime and off-hour shifts in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic technical engineering support work in the design and construction of public works, roads, bridges, drainage, and capital improvements.
• Assist with the preparation and review of plans, profiles, and other designs per engineer instructions and notes.
• Prepare graphics, organization charts, and maintain master files of drawings, maps, and specifications.
• Assist with estimates, specifications, and project documentation; support field inspections and project administration.
• Ensure compliance with applicable plans, specifications and standards.

Education

Engineering Aide: College algebra and geometry coursework; substitution of 1 year experience allowed

Engineering Technician: Associate/AA in pre-engineering or closely related field
