Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. is seeking an Engineered Lumber Technical Specialist to provide technical expertise on engineered wood products, including floor and roof systems, for builders, lumber yards, distribution centers, and internal sales teams.

You will interpret plans, develop layouts using CAD tools, recommend products, deliver training, and support demand forecasting while collaborating cross-functionally to deliver excellent service and business results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred; Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
• 2–5 years of experience in engineered lumber, structural design, construction, building materials, or related technical field preferred.

Position Summary

The Engineered Lumber Technical Specialist provides technical expertise and support to builders, lumber yards, distribution centers, and internal sales teams regarding the specification, design and application of engineered wood products. This role serves as a subject matter expert on Engineered Lumber Solutions, including floor and roof systems, and assists customers through design consultation, product recommendations, training, and technical problem-solving.

This position is also responsible for supporting demand forecasting activities and collaborating with internal teams to deliver exceptional customer service and business results.

What You'll Do

Technical Support & Customer Consultation

• Provide technical assistance to customers regarding engineered lumber products and applications.

• Stay current on industry trends, products, technologies, and construction practices.
• Participate in meetings, presentations, and customer events to represent the organization.

What You'll Need

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Master's degree or MBA is a plus.

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of experience in engineered lumber, structural design, construction, building materials, or a related technical field preferred.
• Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate based on the position requirements and market data.
