Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking an Engineered Lumber Technical Specialist to provide technical expertise, design layouts, and product recommendations for builders and distribution centers. You will support demand forecasting and collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional service.

The role requires 2–5 years in engineered lumber or related fields, a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, and proficiency with CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required or preferred.
• Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
• 2–5 years of experience in engineered lumber or related technical field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to customers regarding engineered lumber products and applications.
• Interpret architectural and construction plans to develop engineered wood floor and roof layouts.
• Create design layouts and drafting solutions using engineered lumber software and CAD tools.
• Recommend appropriate products and specifications based on customer needs and project requirements.
• Troubleshoot product, design, and installation-related questions.
• Deliver technical training and educational presentations to customers and internal associates.
• Stay current on industry trends and participate in meetings, presentations, and customer events.
• Provide guidance to less experienced team members.

Job description

Position Summary

The Engineered Lumber Technical Specialist provides technical expertise and support to builders, lumber yards, distribution centers, and internal sales teams regarding the specification, design and application of engineered wood products. This role serves as a subject matter expert on Engineered Lumber Solutions, including floor and roof systems, and assists customers through design consultation, product recommendations, training, and technical problem-solving.

This position is also responsible for supporting demand forecasting activities and collaborating with internal teams to deliver exceptional customer service and business results.

What You'll Do

Technical Support & Customer Consultation

• Provide technical assistance to customers regarding engineered lumber products and applications.
• Interpret architectural and construction plans to develop engineered wood floor and roof layouts.
• Create design layouts and drafting solutions using engineered lumber software and CAD tools.

What You'll Need

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Master's degree or MBA is a plus.

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of experience in engineered lumber, structural design, construction, building materials, or a related technical field preferred.
• Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Pay/Salary Range:

$62,000 - $76,000 per year
