HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division is seeking engineers to gather, analyze, and document technical data for design changes. You will generate reports and drawings, perform calculations, and contribute to evaluations through tests and data recording.

A BS in Engineering (ABET-accredited) is required with 2 years of relevant experience; an MS in Engineering with no required experience is also acceptable. Relocation is not offered.

• Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
• Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
• Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided.
• Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
• May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

The Role

Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Must Have

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant professional/exempt experience; Master of Science Degree in Engineering and 0 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
