Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking a testing engineer within Ingalls Shipbuilding in Mississippi. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing testing methods and equipment to support naval ship components and assemblies.

The candidate will plan labor and scheduling, provide test parameters, analyze results, and suggest changes to testing or manufacturing processes. Must have relevant education with experience, and be willing to work various shifts.

The Role

Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment. Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed. Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.

Must Have

• High School diploma and 4 years of experience
• Associates degree and 2 years of experience
• Bachelors degree or above and 0 years of experience

Nice to Have

Prior shipbuilding, Navy, maritime, industrial, or manufacturing experience preferred. Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and resolving techincal issues. Familiarity with test procedures, technical documentation, and engineering reports. Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
