The role supports seven Avionics shops within Component Maintenance, focusing on rapid technical support, reliability initiatives, and cost-saving improvements that enhance Delta’s operations. The engineer will collaborate with Component Maintenance, Materials, Supply Chain, MRO, and other engineering groups to drive practical solutions that improve cost, quality, and turnaround times for component-level

Responsibilities

• Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
• Develop and implement complex repairs for aircraft components.
• Issue engineering paperwork in the form of ER/As, PRIs, Drawings, etc. to support component-level work.
• Maintain compliance with applicable FAA, DOT, OSHA and EPA regulations, foreign regulatory requirements and Delta's Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP) and all other engineering processes.
• Coordinate and contribute to process improvements to increase enterprise effectiveness.
• Identify and implement cost-saving product improvements, including but not limited to Owner-Operator Produced Parts (OOPPs), typical repairs, alternate testing procedures, etc.
• Conduct reliability reviews for component-level reliability drivers, and partner with Fleet, Propulsion, and Cabin Engineering teams to implement reliability improvements initiatives.
• Perform Component Alert Management System (CAMS) investigations and provide dispositions for underperforming components.
• Regularly visit assigned component shops and attend daily shop GEMBA meetings.

Component Engineering is seeking a driven, self-starting Engineer to join the Avionics team. This team provides engineering support to seven Avionics shops within Component Maintenance, helping the operation respond quickly to constraints, improve component-level reliability, and deliver cost-saving product improvements that strengthen Delta’s bottom line. In this role, the successful candidate will partner closely with Component Maintenance, Materials, Supply Chain, MRO, and other engineering teams to provide timely technical support, advance reliability initiatives that improve operational and mechanical performance, and develop practical solutions that enhance cost, quality, and turnaround time for our component-level parts.
