Job summary

AbbVie in Mettawa, IL is seeking an Engineer, Technology I to support hybrid work arrangements (3 days in office & 2 days remote). You will consult on all phases of software projects, and design platform capabilities, proofs of concept, and secure stakeholder approvals.

The role focuses on architectural leadership in Snowflake, Gen AI, and AWS, with emphasis on delivering robust data architectures and standardized design practices to improve operations and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Electronics, or other quantitative field or foreign education equivalent.
• 4 years as a data engineer.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Must have a BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Electronics, or other quantitative field or foreign education equivalent & 4 years as a data engineer.

Of experience required, must have 4 years:

• spearheading design & deployment of robust & secure data architectures leveraging EMR Hadoop & Spark within the AWS ecosystem;
• engineering & developing applications using object-oriented & functional programming languages using Python, adhering to advanced software engineering & architectural principles;
• engineering resilient batch & real-time streaming architectures utilizing Apache Spark;
• implementing sophisticated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or Azure DevOps, & optimize data pipeline & workflow operations with tools including Airflow or Autosys; &
• working in a matrixed organizational structure, preparing written & oral presentations to peers & stakeholders.

Of experience required, must have 2 years:

• developing data solutions within AWS, employing services including S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, & IAM, for optimized data operations; &
• establishing comprehensive standards, guidelines, data modeling principles, governance frameworks & best practices for SQL databases using Redshift or Snowflake to ensure data integrity, security & consistency.

Of experience requiqed, must have 1 year:

• preparing data reporting using Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI; &
• developing Generative AI applications using Langchain & Llama Index, RAG, GraphRAG, & agent-based chatbot solutions.

Work experience may be gained concurrently.
