Job summary

Wade Trim is seeking an Engineering Summer Intern for our Community Design group in Detroit. You will assist with civil/environmental engineering tasks, coordinate with multiple departments, and help develop tools under senior engineers. Strong communication and organizational skills are required.

The role emphasizes data analysis, drawing retrieval, and collaboration with project managers, with familiarity in GIS or design software and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering (junior/senior preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation or Revit preferred.
• Self-motivated, very organized with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine calculations under a senior engineer.
• Obtain drawings from local municipalities.
• Analyze continuous flow and rainfall data.
• Copy and scan project drawings.
• Assist engineer with development of spreadsheet tools.
• Work with project managers and engineers and take direction.
• Coordinate with the Planning department.
• Collaborate with the Design (structural) department.
• Collaborate with the Hydraulic and Hydrology department.
• Communicate effectively with staff and clients.
• Maintain excellent client relations.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
