Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. in Boise, Idaho, seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to design and develop electronic hardware for advanced semiconductor test systems across concept to deployment. You will apply analog, power, and mixed-signal design to enable reliable testing and sustaining support.

Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, perform simulations, verification, and contribute to AI-enabled design improvements, with emphasis on quality and cost objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field with 3+ years of experience designing analog and power electronic circuits.
  • Experience with DC-DC power conversion and SMPS topologies.
  • Experience using PCB schematic capture and EDA tools such as Siemens Xpedition, Cadence OrCAD, KiCad.
  • Experience using circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice.
  • Experience operating laboratory test equipment including DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads.

Responsibilities

  • Design analog, power, and mixed-signal electronic circuits from concept through implementation and validation.
  • Evaluate and select electronic components to meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
  • Develop schematics and collaborate with PCB designers to create optimized board layouts.
  • Perform circuit simulation, analysis, and design verification using industry-standard tools.
  • Debug, test, and validate PCB assemblies using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and power supplies.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, design documents, test plans, and validation reports.
  • Develop scripts and automation solutions to improve design efficiency, data analysis, and engineering workflows.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations throughout the development process.
  • Support prototype deployment, customer validation activities, issue resolution, and design enhancements.
  • Manage engineering changes using established configuration management and version control processes.
  • Support released products by addressing technical issues and implementing design improvements.
  • Explore and implement opportunities to apply AI technologies to design, review, automation, and sustaining activities.

Summary

Department Introduction: The Systems Integration Group (SIG) develops advanced test solutions that support semiconductor manufacturing and product quality. The team partners across engineering, operations, procurement, and external suppliers to design, build, and deploy innovative hardware platforms that enable reliable testing and validation of semiconductor devices.

Position Overview: As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will design and develop electronic hardware used in advanced semiconductor test systems. You will apply electrical engineering principles to create analog, power, and mixed-signal solutions that support manufacturing and product development. This role spans the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept and design through validation, deployment, and sustaining support. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams around the world to deliver reliable, high-quality test solutions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field with 3+ years of experience designing analog and power electronic circuits
  • Experience with DC-DC power conversion and switched-mode power supply (SMPS) topologies
  • Experience using PCB schematic capture and electronic design automation (EDA) tools such as Siemens Xpedition, Cadence OrCAD, KiCad, or similar platforms
  • Experience using circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or comparable applications
  • Experience operating laboratory test equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
  • Experience designing mixed-signal systems for test, manufacturing, or semiconductor applications
  • Experience supporting products through prototype development, deployment, and sustaining engineering activities
  • Programming or scripting experience for design automation, test automation, or data analysis
  • Familiarity with AI tools and large language model (LLM) prompting techniques to improve engineering productivity and workflows
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working across cross-functional and global teams
  • Experience participating in technical design reviews and driving continuous improvement initiatives
