Overview

Engineer, Senior AI (IT Python and AI programming (Expert) III)

Summary: CIO Architecture, Strategy & Innovation (CASI) is responsible to assist Vice President of Information Technology (IT) design, develop, maintain, support, and translate corporate business vision and strategy along with stakeholder input into objectives for building, enhancing, or replacing business and IT systems capabilities, together with an implementation of a comprehensive IT roadmap, all-the-while maintaining resilience to change as a key architectural and strategy objective for the enterprise.

To support the Customer mission, projects, and system requirements, the Customer requires sophisticated information technology systems support services by experienced professionals. The CASI team demonstrates leadership by evaluating and driving implementation of innovative solutions for technology infrastructure and application architecture.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops scalable solutions using AI tools and machine-learning models. Performs research and testing to develop machine learning algorithms and predictive models. Utilizes big data computation and storage tools to create prototypes and datasets. Conducts model training and evaluation. Integrates, tests, tunes, and monitors solutions. Proficient with multiple AI tools such as Python, Java, or R and machine learning frameworks like Spark, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
• Demonstrate capabilities through actual work experience, not merely training:
• Practical Application of Core Python Concepts: building and deploying Python applications or scripts that address IT operational needs, automate processes, or handle data management.
• Data Engineering and Analysis Skills: data acquisition, cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation using Python tools for large-scale datasets.
• Implementing and Deploying Cloud Applications: deploying Python applications in cloud production environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), potentially using Docker or Kubernetes.
• Software Engineering Best Practices: version control (Git), writing clear and testable code, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Data Science Best Practices: data pipelining, feature engineering, or creation of machine learning models.
• Familiarity with Cloud-based Data Science Services: using managed AI/ML services from cloud platforms.
• Ethical Practices and Security Knowledge: awareness of data privacy, bias mitigation, and secure coding in Python-based solutions.
• Typically performs all functional duties independently.

• Desirable: hands-on experience building MCP servers and integration with Agentic AI workflows.
• Communicating complex technical concepts to technical and executive stakeholders.
• Proficiency creating technical diagrams with Microsoft Visio or Draw.io.
• Proficiency creating technical design and architecture documents in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency creating technical and business presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Proficiency creating data representations, charts and reports in tools such as Excel and Power BI.
• Ability to communicate effectively to develop and present management briefings; provide guidance on technical issues; and prepare recommendations and reports.
• Using design patterns for building scalable and maintainable applications/solutions.
• Clearly document code, models, and technical solutions.
• Proficiency in Generative AI and prompt engineering.
• Continuous learning and adaptability in a large IT organization.
• Troubleshooting software and technical implementations in large-scale enterprise ecosystems.
• API development and integration.
• Querying and managing data in SQL and NoSQL databases.

Education

• A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
• A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is required. If the individual’s degree is not in the applicable field then four (4) additional years of related experience is required.
• Note: Special credentials (licenses and/or certifications) may be required at the Task Order level on a case-specific basis.

Additional Provisions

• Pass both a client-mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
• Once a candidate's resume is approved and interview passed, the agency is responsible for providing drug screening. Failure to submit the drug screening results will delay the security clearance process.
• If a candidate is given an interim clearance, continuation of employment is then based on the candidate receiving a sensitive clearance.
• All candidates must be a US Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
• Candidate must have lived in the US for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
