Job summary

Slate is seeking an Engineer, Propulsion System Diagnostic Software Validation in Troy, MI. You will develop validation tests for propulsion ECUs, collaborate across software, electrical and propulsion teams, and craft test specs from rigorous system requirements.

You will automate DTC tests, leverage LIN, CANoe, CANalyser, ALM, Git, Jira, Linux, C, C++, and Python, and contribute through to Agile software cycles with strong root-cause analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field (foreign degree accepted).
• 1 year of experience in related roles such as Software Engineer – Controls, System Engineer, Systems Validation Engineer, Test Design Engineer, or related occupation.

Responsibilities

• Develop diagnostic software validation test cases for propulsion system modules (ECU) across vehicle architecture.
• Collaborate with Software, Electrical, and Propulsion teams to integrate multiple control units on test properties.
• Write detailed test specifications and test scripts from system and component requirements.
• Generate a testing plan achieving targets at various milestones; automate DTC tests and UDS services.
• Utilise LIN, CANoe, CANalyser, ALM, Git, Jira, Linux, C, C++, and Python for duties.
• Perform root cause analysis, corrective actions, and risk escalation to keep software development on track.
• Identify automation opportunities and implement processes to improve efficiency; participate in Agile software development.

Duties

Responsible for developing diagnostic software validation test cases for the system, subsystem, and component level for each propulsion system module (ECU) across the vehicle architecture; work closely with Software, Electrical, and Propulsion teams on the integration of multiple control units on the test properties; collaborate with Software, Electrical, and Propulsion teams to develop DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and test properties validation plans; write detailed test specifications and test scripts based on system and component requirements; generate a testing plan that achieves targets at various milestones; develop automation of DTC test cases and UDS services; utilise LIN, CANoe, CANalyser, ALM, Git, Jira, Linux, C, C++, and Python to perform duties; analyse and visualise large data sets from various data sources to understand the use cases and validation criteria; responsible for technical communication of analysis results and tradeoffs; perform root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and escalation of risks to keep software development process on track; identify opportunities for automation; develop and implement processes to improve efficiency; and participate in Agile Software development processes.

Location & Salary

Location: 2716 Daley Dr, Troy, MI 48083; Salary: $130,000 per year;

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);
• Experience: One (1) year in the position above, as a Software Engineer – Controls, as a System Engineer, as a Systems Validation Engineer, as a Test Design Engineer, or in a related occupation;

Other Requirements

Experience must include one (1) year’s use of all the following: LIN, CANoe, CANalyser, ALM, Git, Jira, Linux, C, C++, and Python. Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience.
