Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking an Engineer - Project Specialist to lead cross-functional teams for Engineered-to-Order progressing cavity pump systems, from contract award through delivery and site testing. The role requires safeguarding margins, ensuring specification alignment, and coordinating with design engineering, procurement, and quality teams.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in heavy industry project management, a BS in engineering, and proficiency with SAP, MS Project, and JIRA.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equal technical manufacturing degree.
• Minimum 2+ years of active project management in heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with rotating machinery, positive displacement pumps, or fluid systems.
• Proficiency with SAP, MS Project, and JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Direct all execution stages for custom progressive cavity pump assemblies from handover to delivery.
• Audit BOMs, schematics, and material choices against client standards.
• Coordinate FAT and testing including hydrostatic and NPSH validations.
• Manage costs, track scope changes, and preserve project margins.
• Mitigate risks with proactive resource forecasting and root-cause analysis.

Job Overview: The Project Specialist leads cross-functional teams to execute high-complexity, Engineered-to-Order (ETO) progressing cavity pump systems from contract award through final delivery and site testing. This role serves as the primary commercial and technical nexus between external corporate clients and internal design engineering, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance divisions. The ideal candidate will safeguard project margin, delivery velocity, specification alignment, and standard compliance across every milestone.

• Project Lifecycle Management: Direct all execution stages for custom progressive cavity pump assemblies, starting at technical handover through mechanical fabrication, testing, and ultimate customer delivery.
• Technical Specifications Review: Audit engineered Bills of Materials (BOM), system schematics, and material selections against demanding application environments and client standards.
• Testing & Compliance Validation: Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), including hydrostatic, performance, NPSH testing, and material traceability audits, ensuring validation against API 676 or contract provisions.
• Financial Oversight: Manage dynamic cost architectures, track scope creeping variations, process precise change orders, and preserve targeted gross margins for every project package.
• Risk Mitigation Profiles: Mitigate scheduling gaps, supplier lead-time overruns, and mechanical conflicts through proactive resource forecasting and root-cause analytical strategies.

Requirements:

• Educational Foundation: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical manufacturing discipline.
• Professional Experience: 2+ years of active project management experience directly inside heavy industrial environments, specifically focused on rotating machinery, positive displacement pumps, or complex fluid systems.
• Systems Competency: Advanced proficiency deploying enterprise tracking platforms (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Project, or JIRA.

Preferences:

• Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred but not required.
• Industry Standards Literacy: Deep understanding of API 676, Hydraulic Institute standards, elastomer fluid-compatibility mechanics.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional command-oriented communication, professional negotiating capabilities, and an ability to navigate matrixed multinational corporate structures successfully

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:

• Fully site based in Enon, OH with minimal travel expected.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is $87,000-$105,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
