Houston Engineering, Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Water Resources Engineer (PE) to lead and manage civil and water resources projects focused on water quantity and quality.

You will work with a team of engineers to advance design and watershed planning efforts. The role involves preparing studies, hydrologic models, analyses, and design documents, with client leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in civil and water resources engineering.
• MN Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Basic understanding of water resources and regulations in Minnesota.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior problem solving and analytical skills.
• Solid critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
• Positive attitude under pressure; team player; self-motivated.
• Excellent leadership and project management skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel.

Job Description

• Prepare studies, reports, and design documents to support plans and specifications for civil and water resources projects and watershed planning efforts.
• Prepare hydrologic and hydrology models.
• Complete engineering analyses and calculations.
• Prepare outline of engineering services, scope of work, Project Engineering and Design.
• Develop solutions for various types of Water Resource projects.
• Lead for client contact and communications.

Our water resources engineers work on a variety of exciting projects including water quality practices, flood storage basins, lake outlets, stream restoration, agricultural drainage systems, stormwater resiliency planning, and many other projects related to Water Resources Engineering.

• Valid driver’s license in good standing with availability for periodic travel.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
